Match Report Hospital Services

The sun shone, a cricket tea was consumed, whites were worn, the opposition provided both excellent hospitality and a good game, cake was consumed, blazer was worn amd fun was had.

I think when the opposition ask you back and confirm the date before you have left the ground you get a pretty good indication of how the day has gone.

What a tremendously generous and thoughtful club Hospital Services are: game played on the right spirit, beyond helpful in the organising, a donation to the Cub, a donation to the Cricket Kindness Project, a cake and they even arranged for the sunniest and hottest day of the summer, and I can forgive them (just) for winning the toss and making us run around for 35 overs, because they then provided an excellent tea with everyone sat together and then several joined us for a curry in the evening.

We even played some cricket with Hospital Services posting 200 from their 35 overs and NBCC failing to reach 100, but holding out for the draw with 9 wickets down.

A good mix: some old, some new, some young, some (well one) with just the one leg! Have to say a huge thanks to all that played, and to Rob Franks for sourcing so many players and captaining the team so well on the day.
A lot of smiles because a lot of people had a great day!
Without doubt a first, being given a cake but other teams please take note this is more than acceptable!!!
Even the blazer got an outing, well why wouldn’t it!!??
A very generous donation to our Cricket Kindness Project
