Another cause very close to our hearts that we would appreciate you reading and supporting. Casper the cat was run over, paralyzed, and abandoned. Kai proposes mandatory reporting to vets or authorities if a cat is hit, advocating justice for all pets. Agree? Sign the petition.

Background

On the 22nd of October between 1:10 – 1:20am our beautiful boy Casper the cat was ran over, paralysed and left to die right outside our house as he was on his way home, the driver of the car was caught on CCTV, after running him over the driver is seen turning around and driving past Casper’s paralysed body slowly to look at what he’d done before driving off and leaving him there.. the driver never got out to check on him or bother to try and knock on anybody’s house to see who he belonged to nor did they bother to try and seek medical attention for him, Casper was a street favourite everybody knew and loved him for the cheeky boy he was.

A recent report from Petplan revealed that approximately 230,000 cats are run over each year, equating to 630 every day and nothing happens to the people that commit this “crime” while the people that it’s happened to are left heartbroken and distraught with no kind of justice, no place to put our anger because the law does not work in our favour.

the law also considers cats as free roamers therefor they do not belong to anybody but with the law being changed in regards to it being mandatory for ALL cats to be microchipped that would mean they are infact somebody’s property and are owned.

I am hoping this petition will bring in a law to state that if you run a cat over it is mandatory to report it to a vet/RSPCA/police (NOT the council) the same as you would a dog or any other working animal.

It’s time for a change cats do in fact have owners and whilst they free roam they still have a home to go to at the end of the day.
