The 8:56 Foundation (@856Foundation) encourage men to talk. Yesterday I played for @savevcricket against @GrimstonCricket (lovely ground and people) and was presented with one of their bucket hats by Sam Adkin for the Spirit of Cricket moment of the game.
The actual moment is only really relevant to those playing but ensuring a young player, enjoys their first bowl in senior cricket and the joy on their face when they get a wicket is as good as it gets on days like this, and I was more than happy to play my part in helping them remember their day ….. and hopefully talk about it!
About 8:56
The 8:56 Foundation aims to raise awareness, increase the profile and reduce the stigma associated with mental health. By using sport as an aid, the 8:56 Foundation was conceived to encourage men to talk and reduce the risk of loneliness and isolation.
The Foundation is run by a voluntary group of trustees and committee members, who with the support of volunteers and fundraisers, ensure that all money raised goes directly to our cause. You can find out what these monies achieve below.
- Encourage men to socialise and talk
- Reduce isolation and loneliness
- Improve men’s wellbeing
- Deliver an environment of strength, support and belonging
- Decrease the frequency of attempted suicides across West Norfolk and further afield.
